Fall Skincare Roundup
It’s my favorite time of year…the Sephora VIB Beauty Insider Holiday Sale!
If you know me - you know I am obsessed with skincare. I’ve definitely started paying more attention to my skin as I get older and I feel like I have tried lots of what’s out there to figure out what works for me. Now that we’re heading into the colder months I wanted to do a quick round-up of my favorite skincare/beauty items for this time of year. I did a little poll on Instagram and everyone said they’d be interested in seeing my picks, so here we go. Also, if you spend way too much at Sephora each year and you’re a VIB member (me!), you get 20% off everything starting Friday, Nov 9, so you better believe I’ll be stocking up during the best sale of the year. Beauty Insiders get 15% off starting Nov 16. Register HERE to become a Beauty Insider to get access to the sale)
First thing’s first: Exfoliation
I think a lot of people forget about this incredibly important step to ensure your skin is primed and ready to really receive all of the products that follow. I talk about my love for the Drunk Elephant line over on Instagram constantly but wanted to make sure I shared my favorite exfoliating mask. I use this super-potent AHA/BHA mask once a week (at night) for a true “facial in a bottle.” It’s so good that I’ve stopped going to my dermatologist for my once-regular chemical peels. It will resurface your skin and give you that youthful glow we’re all after in just one use. I promise you’ll love it! I always follow it up with a healthy dose of this antioxidant oil and have yet to find a better radiance-boosting product combo. (PS: You can stock up on these two items because they have a longer shelf-life than the Vitamin C, for example.)
Next up: Treatments
I’ve also shared my favorite Vitamin C serum before but wanted to mention again because Sephora just came out with this AMAZING holiday set that includes mini sizes of some of their other products. I picked up this set recently because I ran out of my Vitamin C and this entire SET is the same price as just the Vitamin C, so you’re basically getting these mini sizes for free! It was through this set that I tried the Protini Polypeptide cream, and I have to say I love it. It’s like a protein shot for your skin; collagen boosting and full of signal peptides, growth factors, supportive amino acids and pygmy waterlily for visible and immediate improvement in the appearance of skin’s tone, texture and firmness. It’s a bit heavier than I’m used to but it’s perfect for warding off that dry wintery skin and keeping aging at bay. Highly recommended that you add this to your night time routine (coming from a very discerning skincare aficionado!) PS: Drunk Elephant products are clean and toxin-free, so you can feel even better about using this fantastic line of products. This line is basically all I use now!
I’ve also been using this pro-strength 3% retinoid product a few times a week and I do think in combination with my exfoliating mask I’m noticing a difference. I picked this up during the summer sale and have barely made a dent. I think it’s helping even and brighten my skin and I’ve noticed a lightening of a sun spot on my forehead and a reduction of some of the fine lines around my eyes. It is pricey but it’s worth it to me to get the many anti-aging benefits of incorporating a retinoid in your routine.
Intense Moisture for Overnight/Travel/Cold Weather
I recently received a sample of this “water sleeping mask” that’s basically like a tall drink of water for your face. I loved it so much I purchased the full size during the last sale (super affordable, too!). It’s a new concept for me (the overnight mask thing) but I have to say I love it and can feel the extra hydration in the morning. Basically, whenever my skin is feeling thirsty (after flying, for example) I will complete my normal night-time routine and then add this on top. When I wake up it’s completely absorbed and my skin feels normal and soft again. I highly recommend this, as does just about every other Sephora shopper as shown by the 1K+ positive reviews. (PS: they also offer something similar for lips which I have yet to try but may order this go ‘round).
I was definitely influenced by Instagram to try this Jet Lag mask but I actually really love it. I have worn it as intended; both in the air and afterwards, for some serious moisture repair. It’s totally clean/non-toxic and will bring your tired/stressed skin back to life if you’ve been traveling or just neglecting your skin in general. I apply it either before I get on a flight (with no makeup on top) or immediately upon landing to restore the moisture balance to my skin. I love it and also love that it looks so pretty on my sink. Give it a try and let me know if it lives up to the hype for you!
If you made it this far, thank you for reading (!) and I would love to know in the comments below if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think. Hope you can take advantage of the Sephora VIB Beauty Insider Sale this year and stock up on some of my fave products available today. Happy shopping!
